Cook Islanders are saying they are hosting the next Survivor with production crew arriving in March-April and filming in May-June. The quintessential blue lagoon Aitutaki is supposedly the filming site. It was used for the first ever Survivor done by a United Kingdom production team. Other countries have used the same location. Typically, two of the small islets Rapota and Moturakau, called 'motus,' are the Tribal Camps. Rumor is that SEG is contracting with local resorts for lodging now. There are three daily flights to and from Rarotonga, and direct flights from Rarotonga to Los Angeles. Jeff Probst mentioned that the next location is the theme of the show. The first westerner to set foot on the Cook Islands was Captain Bligh, just days before the mutiny. The lagoon was once a refueling stop for trans-Pacific flying boats. The motu Rapota once held a leper colony. |
